Wooden Chomp & Clack Alligator Push ToyAug 08, 2008 The toy was a gift for our 1-year old granddaughter and was enjoyed by her instantly. It is very sturdy and has been a help as she learns to walk on her own. Only drawbacks are that the paint began to chip right away and one wheel came off and had to be glued back on.
dangerous due to poor qualityJul 23, 2008 We bought this for my daughter's first birthday and she loved it during the first week she played with it. However, wooden slivers from the plywood side panel began flaking and breaking off almost immediately. Each broken piece is about an inch long and incredibly dangerous. We have taken it away from her and will be returning it as soon as I have time. What a shame. I previously loved Melissa & Doug products.

A Way to Save $25 if You Want to Keep Your RugsJun 28, 2008 I bought this for my daughter when she was starting to walk, and it is a nice-looking thing; wooden and retro and the alligators are very cute and all that. However, I just don't see how this can be any good unless you live in, like, The Overlook Hotel or some big modern loft with smoothly carpeted or concrete floors. Because this thing just does not work in a little Craftsman bungalow with wonky hardwoods covered in oriental rugs. It gets caught on everything (especially fringes) and causes baby much frustration with steering because of the wheels, you see. I've found that my daughter (who walks well on her own now) much prefers to push around a $5 plastic laundry basket which has the added bonus of providing a place for her to ride when I push her.

So much fun!!!Jun 20, 2008 My little girl loves this push toy! She becomes so elated when she pushes it, she can hardly contain herself... pure entertainment! Plus, it is teaching her how to walk. Recommended if you have hard floors (it takes extra effort on certain carpets or rugs). She also received a plastic push toy that is too light and slips all over the hardwoods, so we don't use it. The Chomp & Clack Alligator is sturdy and, with a little practice, is easy for a little one to maneuver. In a world of cheap, plastic toys, this is a great find.

The idea of this toy is good, it just doesn't work all that well.Jun 15, 2008 I was dissapointed when I received this toy because it was dusty and it looked used. It seemed like too much hassel to send it back and my son saw me take it out of the box, so I just put it together. One of the wheels doesn't turn all that well and when he pushes it, sometimes it just slides. When it does roll, I like it...I like the idea of the toy, it just doesn't seem all that well made, but maybe I just got a bad one.
